The “Gridiron Gold” jerseys were worn during the 1940s, when quarterback Y.A. Tittle was at the helm for the Tigers. According to Fox Sports, Tittle’s visit to LSU a few years ago is what inspired the Tigers to create the throwbacks.

The jerseys will also have the “Sailor Mike” logo on the collar, which was featured on LSU’s jerseys during the 1940s and 1950s.
LSU’s helmets will be white, which was the style the Tigers wore from 1957-71 and the pants will have and “L” stitched on the side, much like what members of the school’s athletics wore in the early 1900s.
